About Robert Fremon
I love making jewelry! My background has always had a creative element, having a graphic arts business in Manhattan for many years and then an eclectic fine craft gallery “Dr. Livingtone’s Finds” in a picturesque artist village in upstate New York. It was there that I experimented with tools, materials and started making jewelry sixteen years ago. I discovered that it satisfied a lifelong proclivity for building and designing intricate things. Even as a kid, I was always working on a plane, a radio or a boat. I perfected my own techniques of fabrication using small hand tools, sometimes making my own. I use 18k & 14k gold in yellow, white and rose. I love the finishing; turning something rough and crude into something gleaming and gorgeous. I use many steps, always starting with meticulous polishing and then adding different finishes such as sandblasting, light rub, carving or combinations depending on my desired effect. Sometimes high polish is all that I want. The endless palette of gorgeous stones inspires me. Their endless beauty continuously fascinates me. From the intense color of a beautiful sapphire to the amazing sparkle emanating from even the smallest diamond to the mysteries of the earth that opals possess, they all speak to me.
It is very rewarding to have someone appreciate and purchase a piece of my jewelry … knowing it will be admired and cherished for years to come. My work is timeless and elegant transcending generations with echoes of the past and yet bold and contemporary to blend seamlessly with our modern times.
I now exhibit my work only at fine juried art and craft shows nationwide alongside my wife Robin. We make a good team!
